Your Help Center for the WatchPAT Device

Finally, a sleep apnea test that works around you — not the other way around.

The WatchPAT® is a Health Canada approved Home Sleep Apnea Test (HSAT) that brings clinical-grade accuracy straight to your bedroom.

Powered by innovative technology, it detects sleep apnea with the reliability you'd expect from a lab — minus the hassle of ever having to go to one.

Most diagnostic devices are complicated, uncomfortable, and disruptive. WatchPAT® was built differently. Its simple, non-invasive design means you can test in your own bed, in your own environment, getting the kind of natural sleep that actually reflects your real habits. Better sleep during the test means better, more meaningful results.

Getting started takes less than a minute — just 3 simple steps:

  1. 🫁 Attach the chest sensor
  2. Strap the WatchPAT® bracelet to your non-dominant wrist
  3. 👆 Slip on the finger probe

That's it. Then just go to sleep like you normally would.

With only 3 points of contact, WatchPAT® is one of the easiest and most comfortable sleep study devices available — so you get accurate answers without sacrificing a good night's rest.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need a doctor's referral or prescription to order the WatchPAT?

No referral or prescription is required to purchase the WatchPAT. You can order directly from CPAP Superstore and take the test on your own timeline. Once your results are reviewed by a licensed sleep physician, you'll receive a formal report and sent to your email address.

Will my insurance cover the cost of the WatchPAT?

Some private insurance and extended health benefit plans do cover the cost of a home sleep test — but coverage varies by provider and plan. We recommend checking with your insurer before or after purchase to find out if you're eligible for reimbursement. We can provide an official receipt to submit with your claim.

Note for Ontario residents: The WatchPAT ONE is a Level 3 home sleep test and does not qualify for the Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP) rebate. To be eligible for ADP funding toward a CPAP device, a Level 1 in-lab sleep study is required. If ADP coverage is important to you, please speak with your family physician before ordering.

What is your return policy?

Because the WatchPAT is a single-use, disposable medical device, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on any opened/used units.

For any unopened and untampered products, we have a 30-day hassle-free return policy.

To qualify for a refund or exchange, the item(s) must be in the same condition it was shipped to you – SEALED and in their original packaging. Opened items will not be refunded.

For full details, please see our Returns, Exchanges & Warranty page.

Where do I find my 4 digit PIN?

The four digit PIN should be included in your package for the WatchPAT. (Hint: it's usually the last 4 digits of your phone number.)

If you did not receive a PIN, contact us at help@cpapsuperstore.ca

Do I need to use an app for the WatchPAT testing?

Yes! In order to have your sleep data transmitted to our physicians, you will need to download the WatchPAT app in either Google Play (Android phones) or the App Store (Apple phones).

How do I download the WatchPAT app?

Download the WatchPAT ONE app by scanning the QR code on your test kit box, or by searching for "WatchPAT" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. It is published by Itamar Medical and requires iOS 15.0+ or Android 7.0+. Ensure you allow all permission requests for proper functionality.

Is testing for one night enough to give an accurate reading on my sleep apnea?

Yes, one night of testing with the WatchPAT ONE is designed to be sufficient for most Canadians — it calculates AHI and RDI based on your true sleep time rather than total recording time, reducing the risk of a sleep apnea misdiagnosis by up to 20% compared to other home sleep tests that may require multiple nights for an accurate picture.

What if I don't get a full night's sleep during the test?

The WatchPAT ONE only needs a minimum of 90 minutes of actual sleep to generate a report, so even if you have a restless night, your results can still be captured — just sleep as long as you comfortably can while wearing the device for the most complete picture of your sleep health.

My report says I have sleep apnea. Now what?

How long does it take to get my results?

After your test is complete, your sleep data is automatically transmitted to our physicians for review. You can typically expect your results within 2–5 business days. Your report will be sent to you by email and will include a full breakdown of your sleep data along with your physician's findings and recommendations.

How do I get my results?

After your testing has been completed, you will receive a detailed sleep report from one of our sleep physicians via email.

Can I recycle the WatchPAT when I'm done with it?

Yes! Zoll Itamar offers a recycling program to Canadians for their used WatchPAT devices. Once you've completed your sleep study, you can send your device back through their official recycling program at itamar-medical.ca/recycle-en for instructions on how to return it responsibly.

Preparing For Your First Night of Testing

Before you begin, download the WatchPAT ONE app from the App Store or Google Play and have your PIN ready — it's the last 4 digits of the phone number you used when placing your order. When you're ready to start, watch the setup video (above) on our support page, which walks you through everything in under 5 minutes.

Setting up the device takes just three steps: strap the WatchPAT to your non-dominant wrist like a watch, slip the finger probe onto your index finger, and attach the chest sensor. Once everything is in place, open the app and follow the in-app prompts — it'll guide you through each step and confirm you're ready to go.

A few things to take care of before bed for the most accurate results:

  • Remove any nail polish from your probe finger, as dark, gel, or acrylic polish can interfere with the oxygen sensor.
  • Keep your phone plugged in overnight with the app open, since a dead or disconnected phone means your data won't transmit.
  • Move away from electronics like smart TVs, Wi-Fi boosters, and baby monitors, which can disrupt the Bluetooth signal.
  • Sleep alone if you can, and avoid alcohol or sedatives before the test, as these can affect your results.
